How To Video : Hair Chalking

This season colored hair is all the rage & today ladies I'm coming at you with a HOW TO video to achieve color in your hair without the commitment of permanent color! This is called hair chalking. It's so much fun and so easy to do.

You'll need a few things : brush, towel, clips, water, soft pastel chalk, gloves (optional), flat or curling iron and a blow dryer.

All you do is section off the hair you wanna color, wet it , chalk it the let it dry and curl it! SO EASY!

Now just a few tips and tricks before you do this. It does rub off on your clothes a little bit so make sure to wear something close to the color in your hair or a dark color. Also you can add some hairspray to set the color. If you're blonde you don't need the water unless your okay with it staying for a few washes, but if you have dark hair you NEED the water or it'll never work.

Have fun with this ladies and step outside your comfort zone! Send me your pictures of your hair!

Happy Hair Chalking!

Brilliance New York Salon Grand Opening

Hello there my lovely readers! I hope you're enjoying your week thus far. I've been quite the busy one with work lately and I wanted to share with you the the event we threw last night for our fabulous client Brilliance New York! I am pretty obsessed with them since their products are amazing (no, not because I work with them, but because they really are) ! I have the diamond infused iron and let's say it's tamed the Miami frizzies.

Any who, last night was their salon grand opening! It was packed of beautiful people along side even prettier models. The beats were booming all night long, while guests enjoyed drinks and some food to nibble on. Ladies were able to get mini VIP makeovers and left with their hair and make-up looking fierce. The press was all around and at some points it was hard to walk with how many great people were there. We had celebrity stylists come in and the hosts of the night were some local bloggers from Miami. The event was a huge success, even though by the end of the night my feet felt as if they were going to break off from my body and go their own way. My team and I were non-stop, but it paid off and Identity Media Shop pulls off yet another wonderful event! Check out the pics below !

The 2012 Met Ball

Last night, celebrities and fashion icons flocked to the NYC for the most prestigious event, The Met Ball. It was held this year to mark the opening on the Costume Institute exhibition on Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli. This ball is something everyone whose anyone wants to attend, and my invitation obviously got lost in the mail! This is the Oscars of Fashion! So who was there and what were they wearing? Let's take a look at the best and worst looks the gala had to offer.

Now, onto what in my opinion was some of the worst dressed attendees! I mean, what were they thinking?!

Love the dress, but the color washes her out and it's boring. Her hair is boring as well.

Too much going on over here. If it didn't have the top piece, I'd be all for it.

Love everything, except the lip color and color of the dress needs to go..like yesterday.

Now, the dress isn't too bad. I think it's made for a taller person, but she looks so depressed that this look s not working.

I'm all for fashion risks and thinking outside the box, but I just can't with her dress.

 Need I say anything?

Apparently Beyonce wanted her Cher moment. I know you look good girl after you had a baby, but this is a no.

The double belt doesn't do anything for me. It clashes with the print.

Okay Bruno, the fro. GET RID OF IT. You look like a chick. It's horrible.

Who was your favorite and least favorite of the night?

This Season's: Hair trends

From center parts to fishtail braids, we've seen all sorts of hair trends on the runway this season. Some new and some old, yet redone for the modern day. Every girl knows her hair style is the cherry on top to any outfit. This season's styles sure do not disappointment and there is something for everyone!

1. Center Part: A throwback to the 70s, this style has been around for decades. It was all over the runway's this season and this straight, center part works for everyone. This style is used best with clean hair, yet for the second day hair issues you can use some dry shampoo. You can wear the center part with pin straight hair or with soft curls.

2. Side Part: A style that we have seen before is the side part. A deep side part, that slightly covers one eye adds a bit of mystery and a ton of style. You can wear this style with your hair pulled up, down or half up. You can add a few hair accessories to glam it up too!

3. Gym Hair: This style we saw all over the runways is a welcome life saver for all of the "hit the snooze button 5 times" before actually getting up types or the ones who love to squeeze a work out in between lunch breaks. This messy look is a total hit! You add texture products to the roots of your hair and work them in while pulling out a few strands for that undone, messy look. Add a cute headband or clip and your good to go!

4. Head Wraps: From turbans to large head scarves, head wraps are all the craze this season. Not only are they super cute, but they protect your hair from the sun and other harmful elements too! You can wear a turban with your hair down or with your hair pulled into a side braid, while the head scarves pull up all your hair and tie up on the top. These are perfect for your summer wardrobe.

5. Braids: From the old school braids to the fishtails, braids are everywhere this season. You can pull your hair to the side and braid it or just braid and pin back your bangs. I love braids! You can pull out a few strands for a more undone look. There are different types of braids as well. You have the normal braid, the french braid, waterfall braid and the fishtail braid. The fishtail braid is a beautiful way to style your hair for a casual day on the town or a night out with the girls! It's a personal favorite of mine.

6. Dip Dye & Bold Color: One of my absolute favorite hair style trends this season is the color trend! We've seen this look on the runway and all over Hollywood's finest. From bold color streaks to dip dyed ends, this is a must try! We've seen Katy Perry and Kelly Osbourne rock full heads of bold color choices or large streaks of pinks and purples. Lauren Conrad showed us her dip dyed ends and now she has hot pink tips! I love the dip dyed looked myself. You can achieve this look with a permanent color or you can get ColorRub or use the hair chalking technique for a less permanent look. With hair chalk, the color only lasts one or two washes so it's perfect for a quick change. Look out for a hair tutorial on this coming soon!

7. Top Knots: Last but not least, we have top knots! I am totes guilty of doing a top knot at least twice a week. It is so easy to do and looks so great with so many outfits. All you do is pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it, then twist the hair into a bun while pinning it down with bobby pins. You can leave it perfect or pull or a few strands. Add some hair accessories for a more glam look and your good to go!
